Richard Wylie was Awarded: 1st place in Nature - Underwater category for the winning entry "Light and the Dragon" in the 2012 International Photography Awards.

Richard's series of 5 photos depicting both weedy and leafy seadragons was awarded 1st Place in this prestigious competition. Along with the 1st Place he was awarded honorable mentions in the highly contested Environmental Editorial and the Feature Story/Photo Essay Categories as well three more Honorable Mentions in the Nature - Underwater Non-Professional category.

The 2012 International Photography Awards received nearly 15,000 submissions from 103 countries across the globe. IPA is a sister-effort of the Lucie Foundation, where the top three winners are announced at the annual Lucie Awards gala ceremony. The Foundation's mission is to honor master photographers, to discover new and emerging talent and to promote the appreciation of photography. Since 2003, IPA has had the privilege and opportunity to acknowledge and recognize contemporary photographers' accomplishments in this specialized and highly visible competition. Richard Wylie wins photography award in the prestigious Nature's Best Ocean Views 2012 Compeition

Richard was awarded 8th place for his weedy seadragon (Phyllopteryx taeniolatus) photograph in the highly regarded Nature's Best Photography Magazine's Ocean Views competition.


Selected from thousands of images, just 21 photos have been chosen as Winners and Highly Honored to be published in the Ocean Views Winners Gallery feature in their 2012 Spring/Summer print edition of Nature's Best Photography, due out at the end of May.  Eleven photos were awarded a place and 10 were highly honoured with selected images also appearing in the Spring issue of Alert Divers magazine, their partner in the Ocean Views competition, in online galleries, and other Ocean Views contest promotions.


This is one of the largest photographic competitions that Richard has won to date and hopes that it helps create global awareness about these incredibly unique and beautiful creatures!
